About UsThe Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids has a long-standing commitment of working with Faith communities. We believe that faith communities are uniquely situated to bring an ethical and moral dimension to the debate on how to reduce the death and disease caused by tobacco products in this country.
Over the last two years we have expanded our partnerships with many national denominations including the United Methodist, Seventh Day Adventist, Presbyterian Church (USA), United Church of Christ, Islamic Society of North America, Progressive National Baptist Convention and Church Women United. We have also partnered with faith-based organizations such as the National Health Ministries and the Interfaith Network for Corporate Responsibility.
We have partnered with these communities of faith to use their existing infrastructure to support our policy agenda and to recruit individuals as grassroots advocates. They support our efforts to fund tobacco prevention programs and increase tobacco taxes as a public health measure to reduce tobacco consumption. They support efforts to increase funding for comprehensive tobacco prevention programs, raise tobacco taxes as well as supporting smokefree air ordinances that cover all workplaces, including bars and restaurants.
