Volunteer Activities

It's time to reverse this deadly trend. Tell all the candidates running for office in your state and district to put America's Kids first, not BigTobacco's profits. You can do that right now, and it will only take a minute:

  • Send a Letter to the Editor of your local newspaper
  • Ask questions at a Candidate Forum in your area

Questions to Ask at a Candidate Forum

Candidate Forums and Town Hall Meetings are excellent places for you to learn about your candidates' stand on tobacco control. Often, Candidate Forums allow you to ask a question for all of the candidates to answer. Be prepared! Here are some suggested questions about tobacco control to ask your candidates:

Funding Tobacco Prevention Programs
"Tobacco Prevention Programs are proven to reduce smoking and save lives. What will you do to ensure that Tobacco Prevention Programs in our state are adequately funded?"

Tobacco Taxes
"Increasing tobacco taxes raises new revenue for smoking prevention programs and reduces smoking - especially among teens. Will you support an increase in tobacco taxes to support smoking prevention programs for teens?"

Sponsoring Clean Indoor Air legislation
"Legislation to ban smoking indoors is necessary to protect us all from dangerous second-hand smoke. Will you support Clean Indoor Air legislation?"
